Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not good enough to manage Manchester United, who need an elite coach to take them to the next level.
That’s the view of talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, who claims the Red Devils are ‘wasting their time’ with the Norwegian who should have been sacked several weeks ago!
Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Arsenal leaves Solskjaer’s side languishing in 15th place after United’s worst start to a Premier League campaign in seven years.
Old Trafford legend Roy Keane admitted after Sunday’s match that he fears for his former teammate, claiming he believes Solskjaer will be sacked sooner rather than later unless there is a drastic upturn in results.
But Crook, who has previously led calls for Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl to replace Solskjaer in the dugout, has seen enough and wants an immediate change at Old Trafford.
Discussing the topic on Darren Bent’s Boot Room, Crook said: “Well I understand why he used that selection [against Arsenal] because it worked so well in midweek [against RB Leipzig] – the diamond in midfield.
“But you need to build your team around your opposition. It was pretty clear from minute one that it wasn’t working and you [Bent] said to me, ‘will he make changes at half-time?’, and I said, ‘no, he’ll wait till they go 1-0 down’ – which inevitably happened.
“On comes Donny van de Beek, on comes Edinson Cavani… But it was too little too late.
“I just don’t understand in this type of game what a midfield containing Fred and [Scott] McTominay does for the home side.”
Crook continued: “That just demonstrated to me what I’ve been saying for several weeks now. They are wasting their time with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“Every good performance – every RB Leipzig and every Paris Saint-Germain – is followed up by this.
“There’s no consistency; teams like Liverpool are pulling further away in terms of what they’re doing off the pitch and on the pitch.
“They need an elite coach – this is one of the biggest clubs in the world!
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not a good enough manager for this club.”
