Sergio Reguillon claims golf holes have been installed at Tottenham’s training ground for Gareth Bale.
The White Hart Lane favourite scored his first goal since returning to Spurs, on loan from Real Madrid, in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Brighton.
Bale’s love of golf saw him criticised by the Spanish press and Real fans for the amount of time he was supposed to have spent on the course during his seven-year spell in Madrid.
And he further aggravated Real supporters when standing behind a flag, which read: ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order’ while celebrating Wales’ Euro 2020 qualification last year.
Reguillon, who joined Tottenham on the same day as Bale in the summer transfer window, told Spanish radio station El Larguero (SER): “He’s very happy and I see him in a different light.
“He seems happier with the habits here.
“What did surprise me is that they’ve created golf holes for him at the training centre.
“They are only short holes but I couldn’t believe it. He didn’t do badly at Real Madrid and I’ve no idea if he’ll go back.
“The language and communication are everything to him. His Spanish is good, well, it’s like my English.”
Reguillon, though, could have been referencing the pitch-and-putt by the main building at the club’s Enfield training base, something which has been there for several years.
The 23-year-old left-back has enjoyed a solid start to his Tottenham career with three assists in seven matches under Jose Mourinho.
Reguillon added: “He is very good, great, I like this type of intense head coach.
“As is the case with all managers, he gets annoyed when we don’t win but he’s really close to the players.”
