Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson was handed just his third Premier League appearance of the season by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this evening – and it couldn’t have got off to a worse start.
The 23-year-old, who impressed in his two seasons on loan with Sheffield United before returning to Old Trafford last summer, made an absolute howler to give Chris Wilder’s rock-bottom side the lead.
There was no sign of danger when Harry Maguire played a return pass to Henderson but he dawdled enough for Oliver Burke to close him down and flick into the path of David McGoldrick to fire home from close range.
It was a remarkable error by the former Sheffield United loanee, whose brief hopes of the goal being ruled out by the video assistant referee were ended when a potential handball was ruled against.

The Blades’ lead was short lived, however, as Marcus Rashford struck just over 20 minutes later to level the scoreline.
Anthony Martial then added a second for the visitors before Rashford doubled his own tally to seal the three points for Ole Gunnar Solsjaer’s men, who survived a late fightback to win at Bramall Lane.
The Red Devils moved up to sixth in the Premier League with the victory, while the Blades remain at the foot of the standings with one point after 13 matches.
