Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praises Manchester United’s ‘brilliant football’ in Sheffield United victory as Red Devils move up to sixth in Premier League

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised Manchester United for playing ‘brilliant football’ after his side survived a late scare to seal a 3-2 victory over Sheffield United.

After falling behind early in the clash, Marcus Rashford struck either side of Anthony Martial’s first goal of the season as the Red Devils moved up to sixth in the Premier League.

Solskjaer told talkSPORT he was pleased with how his side played, despite admitting the match was made ‘uncomfortable’ by David McGoldrick’s late consolation.

“I think we played some brilliant football between their first goal and their second goal,” Solskjaer said.

“Of course at the end it was a bit uncomfortable for my liking but between there we played some excellent stuff.”

Rashford admitted Sheffield United made it tough and urged his side to play like they did against every team in the league.

The England striker added: “Once again we’ve done well to respond, going a goal behind, scoring three goals, and then of course, late on, if we don’t kill the game off it’s going to be tough at a place like this.

“Today we didn’t get anything that we didn’t expect. They fought for every ball, they wanted to win the game and they fought for 90 minutes, and in the end we managed to get the three points.”

Regarding his second goal, he added: “The referee played advantage and in the end that’s probably why we get the goal, because it is a foul earlier on in the play.

“But from there it’s about reaction and runs and passes, and when we play one-touch like that, we can do that against every team in the league.”
