Patrice Evra has claimed Thierry Henry once turned off his television when seeing Granit Xhaka captain Arsenal.
The Switzerland midfielder is back in the bad books of Gunners fans for getting sent off in his side’s 1-0 home defeat to Burnley.
Xhaka was given his marching orders, following a VAR review, for putting his hands around Ashley Westwood’s neck.
Last year, the 28-year-old was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy for appearing to tell a fan to ‘f*** off’ when being substituted in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
And former Manchester United defender Evra has revealed Arsenal legend Henry, who won two Premier League titles in north London, could not bear to watch Xhaka lead the Gunners out of the tunnel before a match.
He told Sky Sports: “Thierry Henry, one day he invited me to his house to watch Arsenal.
“He turned on the TV, the first image he saw on the screen was Xhaka leading Arsenal.
“Thierry Henry turned off the TV. He said ‘I can’t watch my team and Xhaka being the captain.'”
Arsenal have lost four of their last five Premier League matches and remain 15th in the table.
