Macaulay McGowan asked his trainer for an update on Manchester United vs Manchester City during his fight on Saturday night.
The super-welterweight was beaten on points by Kieron Conway on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev.
The fight came at an unfortunate time for McGowan, as his team Man City were in action away at Old Trafford while he was competing.
After round six, despite falling behind in the contest, his priorities switched.
McGowan asked his trainer: “What’s the score with City.”
He was then informed: “0-0.”
As it turned out, McGowan didn’t miss much by not seeing the game.
United showed good discipline as they held City to 0-0 draw in one of the most mundane derbies you’re likely to see this season.
The Red Devils stifled the creativity of City effectively, even if the away side were a long way off their best.
McGowan is now 14-2-1 as a pro.
