Tottenham have been urged to replace ‘weak link’ Hugo Lloris after the goalkeeper’s latest blunder as Spurs were dumped out of the FA Cup in a stunning game at Everton.
After Man United and West Ham served up a snoozefest on Tuesday, this was a brilliantly bonkers night of cup action for neutral fans, and Evertonians too of course, but it was a nightmare for Spurs who fell foul of a nine-goal thriller at Goodison Park.

Having taken the lead inside three minutes, Jose Mourinho’s men then suffered a monumental first-half collapse as the Toffees turned it around to 3-1.
Spurs then pulled one back with the last kick of the opening half, and equalised early in the second before Everton went ahead again, with Harry Kane then coming off the bench to score a brilliant diving header to make it 4-4 and force extra-time.
But Tottenham failed to find the net for a fifth time, while Everton thanked a substitute of their own as Brazilian ace Bernard came off the bench to score a fine winning goal to send the Merseysiders to the quarter-finals with a 5-4 win.
And it was an outcome that surely had Spurs fans across the country rolling they eyes, and talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein couldn’t resist rubbing the salt in their wounds after the final whistle.
The Sports Bar host said: “I don’t want to use the phrase ‘Spursy’, I really don’t, but I just feel with Tottenham… is this in their DNA?

“I feel like people keep opening the door for Tottenham to go on and achieve something, but they just can’t walk through it, they keep hitting the door frame.
“It’s not just under Jose, either, it’s just Tottenham. I honestly can’t work out how Spurs are going to get through this as a club. It’s not the manager. It’s just Tottenham!”
“But that wasn’t a Spursy result,” argued fellow host and ex-Tottenham defender Jason Cundy.
“They scored four goals tonight, away from home, and they’re still out. They couldn’t have done much more…
“But what a game. We sat through a stinkfest yesterday at Old Trafford, but that tonight, it was one of the best cup ties I have EVER seen. It was just brilliant. Defending was a mess at times, but all out attack, going to the jugular, both sides led the game…
“But Spurs conceded five, and if you concede five, you’re going to go out.”
After the game Mourinho admitted there were ‘things he did like’, and ‘things he didn’t like’ about the game, which is fair after seeing your team score four away from home… but also let in five.

And it was an evening that may haunt Lloris for a while, after a poor performance which saw him guilty of his latest big blunder in the Spurs net, as he let Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s shot slip through his fingers to gift Everton their crucial equaliser, from which the floodgates opened.
Trevor Sinclair, who was at Goodison Park for talkSPORT, branded the World Cup winner ‘lettuce fingers’ after his mistake.
And Cundy believes Spurs have to ‘upgrade’ the Frenchman if they want to get to the next level, saying he’s the ‘weak link’ in their defence.
“Lloris has got to move on,” said Cundy.
“I don’t want to point the finger in just one direction, because if you concede five there is a lot of blame there and you defend as a unit.
“But I have to say, some of the goals Lloris let in tonight… he is a weak link.
“The Calvert-Lewin goal was embarrassing and I don’t think he fills that Tottenham defence with any confidence.
“He let Everton back into the game. Look at some of the top goalkeepers in this country, Alisson at Liverpool and Ederson at Man City, that doesn’t happen, or it rarely happens, but with Lloris I’ve seen it too many times.
“I genuinely feel if Tottenham are to move in the right direction they need an upgrade.”
