More questions surrounding David de Gea’s status as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper will be raised following Manchester United’s draw to Everton.
However, Gabby Agbonlahor believes enough is enough and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to drop the Spaniard and play Dean Henderson instead.
De Gea was at fault for two of the Toffees’ goals in the pulsating 3-3 draw which could be a significant blow in the Red Devils’ title pursuit.
After United raced to a 2-0 lead at half time, Everton pulled one back as De Gea weakly palmed the ball straight into Abdoulaye Doucoure’s path, who gobbled up the chance from close range.
And De Gea should have done better for Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s stoppage-time equaliser.
The 30-year-old appeared to hold his run as he and the Everton frontman chased a 50-50 ball which Calvert-Lewin got to first and slipped into the net to ensure both sides shared the spoils.
Solskjaer kept the faith in De Gea despite numerous mistakes from the United No.1 last season.
But this performance shows that personnel between the Man United sticks need changing, according to Agbonlahor.
However, the former Aston Villa striker can’t see Solskjaer dropping De Gea, adding he’ll be selected ‘no matter what he does’.
Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: “How many times have we been saying that with David de Gea?”
“Next week he’ll make one good save and we’ll be like ‘all right, it’s forgotten now’.
“For me, Henderson has to start. David de Gea has made that many mistakes for Manchester United, he’s got to come and clear that cross and for the first Everton goal he’s got to do better there, he can’t be parrying it straight into the path of the attacker.
“For me, he’s got to be dropped. But I just don’t see Ole as the sort of manager that’s going to drop him though. No matter what he does, he’s playing.”
