Mohamed Salah broke more records on Saturday and climbed ever higher in Liverpool’s all-time goalscoring list as he struck against Newcastle, beating two Anfield icons in the process.
The Egpytian King has been the Reds’ delivery boy this season as, although the team as a whole has struggled, he has still managed to plunder goals up front.

Salah was second in the Premier League’s top scorer charts heading into Saturday afternoon’s clash with the Magpies at Anfield, but closed the gap on Harry Kane [21] in the Golden Boot race as he struck with just three minutes on the clock.
After a searching cross from Sadio Mane, the ball was flicked on by a Newcastle defender before dropping at Salah’s feet with his back to goal.
The 28-year-old used his body and strength superbly to fend off a challenge, before turning on the spot and lashing a sharp finish into the net – leaving Martin Dubravka helpless.
Incredibly, it was Liverpool’s first first-half goal at Anfield THIS YEAR – ending perhaps this Premier League season’s craziest statistic.
It was the first time the champions scored a first-half goal at home since December 27th, when Sadio Mane netted in a 1-1 draw with West Brom.

But the stats did not stop there, with Salah taking his tally to 20 league goals for the season.
It makes the Egyptian winger the first Liverpool player in the club’s history to reach 20 goals in a season three times in the Premier League era.
Salah netted an incredible 32 goals in 2017-18 and then managed 22 in 2018-19. Former strikers Robbie Fowler and Luis Suarez are the only players to have achieved the feat twice.
The strike also takes Salah – who has 29 goals in all competitions this term – to 123 goals in a Liverpool shirt, moving him into the club’s top 12 all-time goalscorers list – level with Dick Forshaw.
He needs just SEVEN more goals to move into the top ten – a sensational feat for a player who hasn’t been at the club for four years, yet.

It was a significant strike for Jurgen Klopp, too, with Salah’s goal against Newcastle the 250th Liverpool goal scored under German’s management.
And the Reds also extended their run of scoring in consecutive home matches against Newcastle, which now stands at 25 – a Premier League record.
Liverpool have also scored more goals – now 105 – against the Magpies in the Premier League than against any other team.

“It’s a fantastic goal, and it just shows Salah is an instinctive finisher,” said the former England winger.
“That wasn’t something they would have worked on at the training ground, it was a hopeful ball and it just landed on his feet, he’s show a little bit of individual skill and strength to hold the ball up and it was a splendid finish, absolutely no chance for Dubravka.”
