Gabriel finds missing tooth after roping in Arsenal ground staff to help him look over entire Emirates pitch after beating Brighton

Arsenal defender Gabriel was a happy man after finding his missing tooth after searching for it over the entire Emirates pitch.

The Brazilian lost one of his pearly whites during the club’s celebratory send-off for David Luiz, with players mobbing the 34-year-old who will leave when his contract expires next month.

Gabriel’s Arsenal teammates saw the funny side of it with Thomas Partey and Willian failing to contain their laughter.

Gabriel, who played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s 2-0 final-day win over Brighton, roped in the Emirates’ ground staff to help him look for his tooth.

In hilarious scenes after the game, Arsenal groundsmen and coaching staff could be seen aiding Gabriel’s search in the background while manager Mikel Arteta and his players were conducting their post-match interviews.

When asked about the incident, Gunners boss Arteta laughed and told reporters: “You guys are here and very close to him so you can help him.”

The search eventually proved to be successful, with the Brazilian announcing on his Instagram Story that he had found it.

We’ve heard of ‘like finding a needle in a haystack’, but like finding a tooth on a football field’ is a new one…

In a Boomerang of him smiling, Gabriel wrote: “Don’t worry my fiends, I found my tooth.”

Gabriel has been one of the few shining lights in Arsenal’s poor season since joining for £27million from Lille last summer.

The Gunners will play a campaign without European football for the first time in 25 years after crashing out of the Europa League and finishing eighth in the Premier League.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insists his side need to do ‘much better’ next term.

He said: “When I was with the team a few months ago and with them now, regardless of the results, we are in a much better place and will be in a much better place and can hopefully take the club where we want.

“It is frustrating because last season with 61 points we [would have finished] fifth, now we are eighth and that is the step that we have to identify.

“The level has gone so high, so the only way to do it is to be much better next season and much more consistent and this is the challenge ahead of us.”
