Harry Kane is worth £150million and Andros Townsend tips striker to join Man City – but ex-Spurs star warns transfer saga ‘has got deadline day written all over it’

The Harry Kane transfer saga will go down to the wire and could well be a deadline day move, says former Tottenham star Andros Townsend.

Kane has given a huge hint he is ready to leave Spurs, with Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea linked with his services.

Townsend believes City is the best club for Kane as they are the only Premier League club who can guarantee him the trophies he craves, and will also give him the best chance of beating Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record of 260 goals.

But Kane’s former teammate sent out a warning that the transfer ‘has deadline day written all over it’, as he expects Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to drive the hardest possible bargain.

“Harry Kane’s done the right thing, he’s kind of sowed the seeds a week ago,” Townsend told talkSPORT Breakfast.

“I think he’ll fully focus on England. His agent and Daniel Levy will be talking in the background, letting him focus on England and then afterwards they’ll all come together and make a decision.

“There’s only one club. Knowing Harry Kane, knowing his character, he wants that all-time Premier League scoring record, so he wants to stay in the Premier League.

“If that interview is anything to go by then he wants to win trophies. The only one club that’s guaranteed to win trophies is Man City. There’s no one better than Pep Guardiola and Man City if you want guaranteed trophies.

“It’s got deadline day written all over it! Daniel Levy is going to squeeze any penny he can out of any buying club.”

But how much should Levy try to squeeze out of any potential buyers for Kane?

“I’d say £150million,” Townsend added.

“But knowing Daniel Levy, knowing what he did with Luka Modric, if it’s to a Premier League side he’s going to want more. Not only is it weakening his side it’s strengthening a rival club.

“For me Kane’s worth £150million but with Daniel Levy it could be anything.”
