Few could have predicted they’d be in this position at this stage a year ago when relegation from the top flight was feared.

Being in unfamiliar territory like this could increase the stress levels hugely, but the hilarious video that graced our social media feeds shows the players are absolutely loving life.

West Ham’s club captain celebrated his 34th birthday on Saturday and his teammates had a hilarious trick up their sleeves to make it a day to remember.

Noble was going gung-ho on a rowing machine at their training ground and as he recovered from the gruelling workout, he was covered in egg by a Hammers staff member before Jesse Lingard poured a full bag of flour all over him!

You never know how someone will react to a prank until it actually happens but fair play to ‘Nobes’, who got up and started dancing as his laughing teammates gleefully belted out Queen’s ‘Another One Bites the Dust’.

Why did they prank Noble on his special day? Lingard revealed it was an act of ‘payback’ from the team and shed light on the planning that went into the operation.

“He always seems to be getting other people so it was a bit of payback on his birthday,” Lingard told Sky Sports.

“A couple of lads were discussing before training when to get him and how to do it. He had to do the rower so as soon as he took his last breath, bam, flour and egg. A little birthday present from us!

“I thought he was going to snap but he took it well, good for team morale. The team spirit’s really good, banter flying about day in, day out but when we get on the training pitch we work and strive to get three points every match. We stick together.”
