Adrian Durham paid a touching tribute to Christian Eriksen after the Inter Milan midfielder’s sudden collapse during Denmark’s Euro 2020 clash with Finland.
The former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker fell to the floor in distressing scenes on Saturday evening, with medical staff rushing to his aid as players and fans looked on in despair.
CPR was administered to the 29-year-old while defibrillators were also used as medics battled to save Eriksen’s life.
Eriksen’s father has confirmed he is awake, breathing and able to speak while undergoing further medical tests in a Copenhagen hospital.
The Denmark players were also notified that Eriksen was responsive as their match with Finland – which ended in a 1-0 defeat – resumed following a delay of almost two hours.
Reacting to the news on air, an emotional Durham labelled Eriksen an ‘amazing human being’ while praying he makes a full recovery.
He explained: “We got a bit of an insight into Christian Eriksen’s character in the Spurs documentary, where some players may have kicked up a fuss, but he was very calm about it.
“The fact he was such an amazing human being resulted in the Spurs management and hierarchy treating him with a lot of empathy.
“They understood his situation and how he wanted a new challenge [when he left the club last year].
“Because of his impeccable record as a professional they treated him like a proper human being.
“This is a good character and good human being who doesn’t deserve this, but I’m reading these Tweets about how he’s stable in hospital, and I’m so happy.”
