Tottenham legend Jurgen Klinsmann admits he is ready to save Daniel Levy and take manager’s role after failed moves for Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso

Jurgen Klinsmann admitted he would ‘absolutely’ love to take over at Tottenham Hotspur, if only Daniel Levy would call him!

The north London outfit have been without a permanent boss since Jose Mourinho was sacked in April, just days before the Carabao Cup final.

Although Ryan Mason took temporary charge of the club, Levy has sought a high-profile manager since that day and solicited a number of top names.

Yet two months on from Mourinho’s dismissal, Spurs are still without a permanent boss and the search for a Mourinho replacement is getting rather embarrassing.

Mauricio Pochettino was sounded out about a potential return, but PSG blocked the move and then Antonio Conte made a sensational U-Turn after reportedly agreeing terms to pull out of a deal.

Incoming Director of Football Fabio Paratici tried to then get Paolo Fonseca before the deal collapsed at the 11th hour, with Gennaro Gattuso removed from consideration almost as quickly as he was instilled as favourite for the post.

Speaking on the BBC after the Croatia vs Czech Republic game, Spurs legend Klinsmann admitted he had in fact reached out back in April about succeeding Mourinho, but was shot down.

“Well I called him after he left Mourinho go,” he said Friday. “Yeah! I said, ‘Daniel, what is the case now?’

“And he said to me, ‘Listen, I have so much to do right now to sort things out at the club so let’s talk a little later on.’

“Then I saw all the names a little later on walking in and talking, and then walking out!

“And the same still today! I mean, Spurs is in my heart, absolutely. Would I consider that?

“But if he doesn’t want to, you cannot force him!”

When pressed if he would be very interested, the German replied: “Absolutely.”

The 56-year-old has managed the Germany national team, Bayern Munich and also the USA during his illustrious career and is adored by Spurs fans for his two goal-laden stints at White Hart Lane back in the 1990’s.

Former Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino insists Conte was always the wrong man for the job, urging Spurs to appoint someone who will take care of their young talent.

“He’s a hugely intelligent man and had great success with Germany,” Casc said on the Weekend Sports Breakfast.

“Klinsmann would be a very smart move, he’s adored by the fans and he had a big impact in Germany.

“People will say it went pear-shaped at Bayern Munich, but Bayern were in terrible shape when he took them.

“I think he’s a viable option for Spurs. Yes, it’s a risky one, but don’t tell me any guarantee comes with a manager.

“The guarantee was Mourinho and that didn’t work out very well, did it?”
