Southampton’s dramatic victory 4-3 over Aston Villa might’ve come at a big price as Ralph Hasenhuttl admitted Danny Ings’ knee injury ‘doesn’t look good’.
The prolific forward was on the score sheet as the visitors raced into a four-goal lead inside the opening hour, before three late strikes from Villa made Southampton’s afternoon far less comfortable than it might’ve been.

Hasenhuttl did escape Villa Park with a win, but he may have lost his star striker following a collision with Ahmed Elmohamady five minutes from time.
Ings, 28, has already had to overcome THREE serious knee injuries, and the England international could be heard shouting, ‘My knee!’
Most of his time at Liverpool was spent in the treatment room after two long-term setbacks, which ultimately ruined his spell at Anfield.
His career has been reborn at St Mary’s, with 27 league goals since the start of last season, but Hasenhuttl suggested he could be set for another long lay-off.

The Saints boss told talkSPORT: “Ingsy, I don’t know, hopefully it’s not too bad – but it didn’t look good to be honest.”
On his team’s minor collapse, Hasenhuttl could only credit Aston Villa for hanging in there and forcing his team to earn the three points.
“That’s the Premier League, no team gives up, especially not a strong side,” he added.
“Credit to them, they always believed in what they were doing. I knew it could get tight in the end and they made it the tough game I expected.”
While there was negative news for Ings, James Ward-Prowse became Southampton’s most prolific free-kick taker with two stunning efforts at Villa Park, earning the praise of his manager.
“This is Prowsey, you can take him everywhere and he knows immediately what he has to do,” Hasenhuttl continued.
“He is a real leader for our team because of his workload and the way he fights for the team every game. It’s amazing to watch.”
